Testimonies - Mary Poole went to Derby!
Ok so im here to tell you more about shadowing the lovely Karina Martin, leader of Derby International Community Church alongside her husband Adam, as part of the Ultimate Intention 'experience' scheme. Karina and Adam have planted their church from Derby Community Church, aiming to work with the Muslim community of Derby and more specifically with refugees. It was such a privilege to see all that is going on and to spend some time with people who have a similar vision to that which God has placed in my heart, and to see how God is using them in England to reach the nations. I spent the two days I was there visiting the various different projects that the church is involved with, meeting the ‘core team’ of church leaders and attending their weekly meeting, and spending time with some truly passionate men and women of God. One of the things that really struck me was God's heart for individuals, something which I think it is easy to lose sight of in a larger church, but which is essential especially in sharing God’s love cross-culturally. It has got me even more fired up for reaching those in Manchester who are often forgotten and marginalised, and are really in need of being set free, and seeing how another Salt and Light Church is doing this has provided me with many things to pray about in terms of seeing it achieved in my home church. I would totally recommend shadowing to anyone who wants to be inspired and grow more with God, it really is an incredible opportunity both to serve others and to learn from them.
